Thursday morning we got a call from the nurse at my OBGYN's office. She said that our "first trimester screenings" came back (the tests they completed in order for us to get our last ultrasound) and that everything is "normal". Although it wasn't something we were worried about it was still nice to get the call!
I know everyone is getting anxious to share our news with their friends and we thank you for honoring our wishes and waiting until I am in my second trimester. I will start my second trimester this Wednesday...so please feel free to start sharing then :) . Just keep in mind...we have many friends still to tell that we would like to tell ourselves...and we certainly won't get to everyone on Wednesday (more likely in the next few weeks) so if you could wait a few weeks to talk to one of our friend's sister/brother/mom/dad...THANK YOU!!! We promise it will all be out in the open soon :) !!
Wednesday we headed to Charlotte for the night (stayed with Marc's college roommate, Mark, and his wife, Melissa) and were "scheduled" (or so I thought) to go to the beach in SC with them Thursday-Sunday. Thursday morning we woke up and Marc said "We're not going to the beach. We need to catch a flight". I had just woken up so I was very confused but finally got it together and started to realize there was no beach trip with Mark and Melissa. We got to the Charlotte airport and I found out we were going to Bermuda :) !! We arrived in Bermuda and Marc seemed to be stalling going through customs. He was enthralled with some fishing brochures and then sat down and said he needed to sit for a minute. Suspicious, yes... I knew Jaime (one of my very best friends...we went to high school together) and Tommy (her husband) were going on a surprise trip that Tommy had been planning for months...though until then I hadn't thought much about it. About an hour after we arrived who should walk through the airport but Jaime and Tommy! Marc and Tommy had been planning this trip together since JANUARY to celebrate our 30th birthdays!!! We had said once years and years ago the perfect 30th would be spent together on a beach in Bermuda and the boys remembered!! What a wonderfully perfect, relaxing vacation we had thanks to our amazing husbands!! Baby Sidney has become quite the world traveller...another stamp in his passport!!

13 week appointment
We had our 13 week appointment on 7/2...it was an exciting one! At Jaime's suggestion we had an ultrasound and we were so glad we did! The ultrasound technician had a little trouble getting our "stubborn" (her words not ours but we're hoping this is not a premonition) little one to cooperate. But eventually he did. When I would move, the baby would move his (the ultrasound technician called the baby a "him"...not sure if she saw something she didn't tell us about!) arms, legs, and head...he was "sitting up straight". It was amazing! It's crazy to think that something inside me is moving and I can't feel it...soon enough though I'm sure. The technician said he sleeps 99% of the time right now so after 10-20 seconds of movement, the baby would put his head down, curl his little legs up, put his hands in a praying position and he was back to sleep. So cute! How crazy that he's grown and changed so much in just a few weeks since our last ultrasound!! When we saw the doctor, she said the baby's heartbeat is strong and everything looks good. I have gained 1/2 a pound since our last appointment (5 weeks ago)...not too shabby...I was thinking it would be a lot more than that after all the sweets I've been eating...hee hee. We met a new doctor. They'll have us see all the doctors in the practice over the next 6 months so we can get to know everyone...you never know who will be on-call when the baby is born. By the way...all of my charts say that the baby is due January 12th...we'd been saying the 11th all these months so...we are now officially changing the date to the 12th. We'll have our next appointment 7/30 (just a check-up) and then 4 weeks after that, as long as the baby is cooperating, we'll have our next appointment and we'll be able to find out the sex of the baby. Woo hoo!
I have to add...Marc was very excited on Friday that baby Sidney played his first round of golf...granted I rode the cart so really the baby didn't get to see too much action but...the baby did bring Marc good luck as he beat Uncle Jeff...overall a great round!
